A new Department of Clinical Epidemiology for Danang University

I am very pleased that the Faculty of Medicine (University of Danang, UDN) has established a new Department of Clinical Epidemiology. This was one of my initiatives to help build the training curriculum for medical students at UDN. The Department will run 3 (or 4) courses in Clinical Epidemiology, Clinical Biostatistics, Clinical Research Methodology, and Evidence-based Medicine for year 3, 4, and 5 students, respectively. Every course emphasizes clinical applications. I do not want to teach probability and statistics to medical students; I want to provide them with knowledge and skills in epidemiology and biostatistics that can be used for solving real world problems and clinical decision making. I want to help train a new generation of doctors who are well versed with clinical research methodology. All courses will be taught in English.

My task is to build and transform the Department to be a world leading center for clinical research and teaching. I envisage that the mission of the Department is to train and educate the next generation of professional caregivers in health who will serve the people of Vietnam. I also envisage that the Department will conduct and promote high-quality research that addresses important questions about the etiology and treatment of common diseases in Vietnam.

I am looking for people with a solid research background in clinical medicine, clinical epidemiology, and/or clinical biostatistics.
